Lucky Number 7
Dear Ruby,
You are now seven months old. Seven months! Your babyhood is flying by and I won't lie to you - it's making me a little sad. I would try to freeze you, right where you are now, but then I'd miss all the good that is to come. Besides, freezing babies is a messy business for the uninitiated. Or so I hear.
Do you see how delicious you are in your Sabres onesie? You are all belly and rolly rolls. Rolls for arms, dimpled legs, and cheeks cheeks cheeks. Scrumptious, edible baby. They said you'd thin out when you started crawling. I'm so glad they were wrong.
Your new things include crawling, sitting up, and saying "nonono". You are fast and you are dangerous. You grab faces, hair, anything you can get your sticky little mitts on. See that expression on your face? That's the face of a stone cold killer. Killa. KillAH.
See what I mean? Pure Evil.
We went to your friend Michael's birthday party on Saturday. You were amazing. Just the sweetest, funniest thing. You played with all the toys, getting right in there with the big kids. You crawled and sat up and talked to everyone. You bounced on laps. And despite no nap, you didn't so much as whimper. Another mom at the party emailed me just to tell me what an awesome baby you are.

Crawling Baby
Turns out, all she needed was a little traction.
And something shiny for incentive (like mother like daughter).
Go, Ruby, go!

6 months
Dear Ruby,
You are 6 months (and a little bit) old! One half of one year. It's hard to believe, but you know what they say: Time flies when you are responsible for keeping a brand new human being alive.

One of the things you love to do as a 6 month old is swing! Here you are, swinging. Note the arm hanging out of the leg hole. Hey, we're all new here. There are bound to be some awkward moments.
During the last month, you mastered "mama" and "baba". You grew two bottom teeth and can now move forward with control and speed (It's not really crawling. More like doing the dolphin. So. much. cooler.).
What else? Oh! You're eating! And I know this will come as a surprise to many, but you love eating. So far, you've had avocado, banana, sweet potato, peas, carrots, butternut squash, apple and pear. And spinach, which is not your favorite but you are such a sweet baby that it only takes a little rendition of "Popeye the Sailor Man" to make you gobble it right up.
You've had big adventures this past month: Halloween, plane rides, visits with family and lots of different people. You even attended Aunt Patty and Uncle Eric's wedding, where you were a big hit. A big, burpy hit, but that's a story for another time.
All in all, you continue to be an excellent baby. Keep your nose to the grindstone and who knows, maybe you'll get that promotion we've been talking about.

Mama (mamamama)
She started this week. I know they are just sounds, that she doesn't really mean me, but it just about breaks my heart every time anyway.
